You may hear or have heard the Japanese flippantly referred to as the world's biggest perverts. And while I'd not go that far, I'd say that the Japanese are very tolerant of whatever it is that gets you off.
BUT.
As a lifestyle? No. Japanese people seem to me like they don't care if you are a woman that sleeps with women. They're less comfortable with lesbians. Same with gays. Trans people? You know that feeling that everyone's talking about you? They're talking about you. But that's nothing new.
Now, Japan being the very safe place it is, nobody's going to kick your ass because you're gay or trans. But they were not exactly the first country in the world to legalize gay marriage.
